The Conscience of a Liberal: Reclaiming the Compassionate Agenda By Paul Wellstone
I am taking part in a book club discussion of this along with thousands of other people. This book is written very honestly, and very much in Paul's own voice. He tells many personal stories to explain how he came to have his liberal political views. He is much too liberal for some, but reading this book makes me mourn Paul's death all over again. We need a voice like his in politics to challenge us and remind us how things could be.

Living History by Hillary Rodham Clinton
Continuing the liberal theme, I picked up this book with a gift certificate I had. I am not very far into the book, but, thus far, I am enjoying it. I know there are many people out there who despise Hillary. I've never really been able to figure out why. When people start to explain their distaste for her and her politics they usually say things like, "She abused her role as first lady by getting into policies." or "She is just so full of herself." I can't help but think that if she had a Y chromosome, she would be considered "strong" and "savvy." I know some don't understand her choice to stay with a cheating husband - that that move itself is a political one. I can't help but think that there are plenty of married couples who have stayed together after some problems. It's just that the whole world didn't watch them. I also don't think we have a right to judge her for that. Anyway, I am enjoying the book.

The Mission Soundtrack by Ennio Morricone
My best friend in high school (Bekah) introduced me to this CD. We used to light some candles and "chill" to this music. I heard the first track played on MPR the other day, and I had to pull out the CD to hear more. It's beautiful music, and a great movie as well.

Ultimate Dirty Dancing
Another soundtrack, but a new release. One of my favorite movies ever. It's one of those that makes regular rounds on TNT and USA. If you happen to catch it on a Sunday afternoon, it's such a pleasant surprise. You are forced to give up the next 2 hours to watching Johnny make something of himself. "Nobody puts Baby in the corner."

The Apprentice - NBC
I have a love/hate relationship with reality TV. I hate the shows that involve eating bugs, but I love the shows with interesting people. There are certainly enough interesting MBA students on this show - many of them are fun to hate! The Donald makes messin' around with these goofballs fun! I do find it interesting that all the women are quite good looking, and most of them men are pretty average. Hmm. Ratings.

Sex and The City - HBO
It's the last season of this fantastic show. I am already missing it. The good news is that this season has some of the best writing ever. And Mikhail Baryshnikov? Oh, so fun to watch! They are definitely going out on a high note.
